  • Trail Run: Johnson Valley mines and history

This will be my 1st trail run put on by me. Planning on going to the Gold Peak mine, Elsie mine, Cumberland mine, Camp rock windmill then maybe to the Petroglyphs. I may add other stuff if time permits or if somebody wants to see something else speak up.

I put Moderate for the rating because there is 1 hill climb we must go up and a fun little wash. I've been up the hill in my Stock TJ with open axles with lots of wheels spinning.

I have a book with dates, Names and what the mines were producing as well as minerals the Ore is found in.

Bring a flashlight if you wish. We can walk into the Gold Peak and Elsie mine.

Bring water and a lunch. Any critters will need a leash Don't need any Pets falling down a hole in the ground.

Meet at the usual meeting place in Lucerne Valley @ 9am. I think it's an Ultramar gas station. A search came up N/A but I think this is the address.

32687 State Highway 18...It's the station just west of the 76 station.

    Anybody interested?

I might be able to go Chris. This sounds like a great trip. The weekend after that is the Ham/MJR Field Day and I may need that day to get ready, but probably not.

The petroglyphs are so cool over there. I'll see if I can get the day off
It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

                              Chris,
I won't be able to go. You guys have a great time and watch for snakes. They're bad this year.
